About Frank
My love for photography began at Colorado State University while I was majoring in Forestry and Wildlife Management. I also was involved with the Mountaineering Club and began rock climbing and backpacking. It was while exploring the Rocky Mountains that I first began to see the possibility and probability that God had created everything. This was more logical to believe than that such beauty as I witnessed evolved by chance. Eventually I became a Christian and changed my major to Psychology. After graduation from C.S.U., I attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago. While there I met my wife, Ruth, and we were married in Kalamazoo where I managed a Christian Bookstore called Logos. In 1973 I opened another Logos Bookstore here in Indianapolis. After a career move I began photographing for Indiana School Pictures and eventually began my own business in 1979. In the 29 years since I have mainly taken portraits of families and children.
We now have three grown children: Aaron, Megan and Amanda. These last two are also photographers. Their web-sites can be viewed at: amandaelpersphotography.com and meganabelard.com. While I no longer do weddings, I enjoy family portraits, children, high school seniors, pets, restorations, bridal portraits and commercial product illustration.
Recently I began photographing scenic panoramas of Colorado, New Mexico and Canada. Another recent addition is the ability to turn a photograph into a virtual watercolor or oil painting. I am always learning and updating my photographic skills and equipment and thoroughly enjoy the art and craft of photography.
