My first concern is finding out the needs and desires of my clients for photography. If I were the client I would want the photographer to produce a product that matched my request. Secondly, I would want the photographer to go beyond my stated wishes and create something truly unique – something of outstanding quality. This is my goal as a photographer and portrait artist. For this reason a consultation before the sitting is essential.
During the consultation we get a chance to know each other and share ideas. We’ll have time to brainstorm about all of the factors that go together to make a fine portrait. You can ask all of your questions and I can gather all the information I need to do a great job. You can see samples of the work we’ve done for other clients and see swatches of the various finishes, which can be applied to your portrait. If you wish we could even begin to think about framing and placement.
During the photographic session I will take quite a few poses with differing compositions. With digital cameras there is almost no limit to the number of shots that can be taken. I’ll take more shots than what I think to be really necessary to accomplish our goals and be creative as well.
I will then do an edit to narrow the choices to just the very best. These proofs will then be available for viewing on this web site shortly after the shoot. Quite often the best pose of one person in a group is not the same as the best pose of a different person. For this reason I do ‘head swaps’ and/or ‘eye swaps behind glasses’ in order to put the best composite image together. You choose the best pose of each person; I then do the swaps as part of the retouching.
After you’ve made your selection and approved our retouching, I’ll call to set an appointment to take your order. Once the work is in production I’ll keep you informed on its progress. I want to work with you to achieve a truly beautiful work of portrait art. With Abelard Photography your satisfaction is always guaranteed. Please contact me to find out more information.
